WHAT HAVE WE DONE?

Santa and the Easter Bunny

Seven years ago, the Santa Claus Project and the Easter Bunny Project were started. Here's a little information about these:

The Santa Claus Project

This was and still remains a very simple but rewarding (to the children) initiative. Every Christmas, we visit as many hospitals, orphanages and safe houses as we can within our City in which we live. That would be Pretoria, South Africa. What happens is straightforward. One of us dresses-up as Santa and the rest as Elves or helpers. The children's' wards and orphanages and safe houses are then visited with the simple purpose of making the little guys smile. In some cases, for some of these kids this could be their last smile, in other cases, they have forgotten to smile. We take sweets along and small gifts and just purely improve the day for these little people by being there for them. It might seem a little soft for you to portray yourself as Santa. I spent 16 years in the military fighting everyone and everything as an operational person and I don't see the hassle in doing this, so get over it.

Why not start this in your own area? It's easy and really brings a smile to the children's faces. In the case of children like Rose, it makes every difference in the world.

The Easter Bunny Project

Yet another simple initiative. On Easter Day, whether you are religious or not, children like cool stuff and when you were small you probably liked the Easter Bunny and the idea of this fellow bringing you some cool chocolate eggs. Again as many hospitals, orphanages and safe houses as we can within our City in which we live are visited and the purpose is a simple one, delivering Easter Eggs, creating Easter Egg hunts...bringing a simple smile to the little faces.

The Superhero Project

This is a new initiative. Since after much discussion we could not get Santa or the Easter Bunny to make special appearances during other times of the year...apparently they are otherwise engaged. We figured however, that Superheros are Superheros, kids like Superheros and Superheros cannot be inconvenienced, thus they would have no problem visiting our little friends at anytime of year. The Superhero Project also goes one step further. It also caters for the forgotten "true street children." In the last year, the Superhero Project has successfully helped a number of such forgotten children to either rekindle with their homes or to find new homes and futures. Most returning to school...who knows one might even be a future world leader?

Superhero Project

Why not start this one in your area and send your photos as well as the names of the little friends that you visit together with their stories? Again, the photos are not about you or me, they are there to get as much knowledge of this out to all as possible and to keep all informed that they are not alone in these ventures.

A gallery and story section will soon be posted on this page to cover the above initiatives as well as those created by you!
